Mick McAuliffe

Lead Surveyor

Mick completed his Trade as a Fitter Machinist in 1984, Then gained further experience in both the mining and fishing industries. He studied Marine Engineering at Challenger TAFE and completed his Diploma in 2008.

Bhagwan Marine, a major player in the construction of the Gorgon Project at Barrow Island, employed Mick as a Landing Barge and Multicat Engineer during the construction phase of the project. A 25 Year involvement in the Crayfishing Industry puts Mick in a very insightful position when dealing with day to day operations in the Fishing Industry.

Micks sea-going and mechanical background, together with a passion for Marine vessels and boats of all sizes and types, gives him a solid foundation to apply his skills to Marine Surveying.

He completed a Cert IV in Training and Assessment to further his lecturing roles in Marine Engineering at various RTO’s.

Mick gained his AMSA accreditation as a Marine Surveyor in July 2016 and presently works as a Class 3 Engineer for Svitzer Australia. Currently, he is furthering his study at the Australian Institute of Marine Surveyors in Canberra, to Gain his Diploma in Marine Surveying.

Murray Dean

Surveyor

Murray completed his first trade as a Fitter Machinist in 2000, then transition to the Heavy Diesel trade with further studies and work.

Employers in the Diesel Marine sector was, Westrac (Caterpillar dealer ship), and MTU Detroit Diesel.

Murray spent 5yrs working from Dampier Port for a Marine Company, as a Marine Engineer and the company’s Fleet Technician. A diverse work scope included organizing Dockings, and vessel upgrades. Vessel fleet Varied from Tugs, Multi-cats, Dive support vessels and crew transfer vessels.

A Further 5yrs was spent in Port Hedland, in BHP Tug towage fleet where Murray was the Workshop Manager and Marine Engineer, the work scope included -running day to day Asset repairs, scheduling vessel Dockings, assisting manning tugs with Engineers. Murray also spent time in Singapore Shipbuilding Yard overseeing the new vessel builds and commissioning works.

Currently Murray is working in his Home Port, Geraldton for Svitzer Australia (Midwest Port Towage) as a Class 3 Marine engineer.

In 2020 Murray embarked on a traineeship with Green Sea Survey, to become a Marine surveyor. After a year and a half of studies and working with Green Sea Survey, Murray obtained his Accreditation as a Marine Surveyor in 2021
